Our Swiss package was very simple; covering many
places in just 8 days; however, I do admit it was very hectic. We explored;
mountain peaks, the beautiful city life, the serene lake and lastly did some adventure
sports as well. Here you would find a gist of our itinerary for our Swiss
holiday. For more detailed description of day plan; you can click on each
links.
Day 1 – Travel day
We reached and relaxed ourselves and of course explored
the areas near our apartment. It is best day to check out which buses are
travelling to station and other nearby locations. However, you can check the
same on the Swiss Rail App as well.
Day 2 – Harder Kulm and Aarge Gorge
We started our trip by with an exciting funicular train
journey taking us to Harder Kulm; top of Interlaken. Here there is a two lake
bridge and of course a breathtaking landscape to click some pictures. Later
part of the day; we explored the beautiful Aarge Gorge. The place is a narrow
gorge caused due to limestock rocks, “Kirchet” which hindered the flow of the
Aare from the Grimsel region.
Day 3 – Mt Jungfrau
Today we were all energized to explore the top of Europe;
Mt Jungfrau. We packed our winter jackets and headed for our exploration. Oh;
we certainly did not climb the peak but thanks to the highly advanced Swiss
rail systems; we could reach the top of Europe by train. There are various
routes to reach here; however, we selected Interlaken Ost-Lauterbrunnen- Kleine Scheidegg -
Jungfraujoch - Grindelwald - Interlaken Ost. We did also visit Trummelbachfalls
in Lauterbrunnen. If you are lucky and have a sunny day then you can enjoy the
snow activities at Mt. Jungfrau. If the Sun God is not with you; then you might
have to only enjoy the indoor activities at Mt Jungfrau.
Day 4 – Lake Thun and Bern
After the tiring day at Jungfrau we decided to relax and
hence we selected to opt for a boat ride at Lake Thun. The serene boat ride
definitely rejuvenates your mind and soul. The boat takes you to the beautiful
city of Thun and there is a train waiting to Bern waiting just opposite the
boat port. We boarded the train and reached Bern; capital of Switzerland. We
did explore this beautiful city on bicycles.
Day 5 – Matterhorn Glacier Paradise via Zermatt
Post the serene boat ride; we were again charged up for
another mountain adventure and hence today we decided to visit the Toblerone
mountain and Matterhorn Glacier Paradise. The base point for this mountain is a
car free beautiful city of Zermatt. The cable car takes you to top of Glacier
and you can see the border of Italy as well. You can enjoy snow rides at the
top.
Day 6 – Mt. Titlis
Today we had plans to visit the world famous; and Bollywood
lovers known destination; Mt Titlis. The exciting journey from Lucern to Mt.
Titlis in ‘Titlis Rotair’ cable car is memorable. At the foot of mountain
Titlis; Indian food lovers can enjoy the famous Vada Pav and Samosas. Yes we
crave for Indian food at the mountain peak as well.
Day 7 – Day of adventure Sports
Post visiting various mountain peaks we were dead tired
and decided to relax. However, some of our crazy cousins still had some energy
left and decided to do the most adventures activity of their life; Skydiving
from 12,000 ft. They were excited in the morning; we wished them good luck and
when they returned we did see an adrenaline rush on their face. The little heroes
of our group did Paragliding and waived good bye to Switzerland from top. A day
full of adventure.
Day 8 – Rhine Falls
Today was the last day with our crazy group and yes the
trip was ending. However, the trip to Switzerland is surely not complete
without a visit to the world famous Rhine falls. We reached Rhine falls and
these are the most spectacular falls I have ever seen. The boat ride here gives
you a closer look at the falls.
Later; we hugged each other with wet eyes and waved good
bye. We did have fun here but we did build life-long memories as well.
